We had such a wonderful time in Hawaii. There were 10 of us total, my parents, brother, sister and her family. We spent the first 10 days in Kauai and then were going to Maui for the next 8. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short because we learned of my grandmother’s passing on the second day of our vacation. It was very sudden so we were all very saddened and shocked. I know she is in a better place now and with my grandpa, but the past couple weeks have been really tough. She was honestly the sweetest grandmother you could imagine. I have only the most amazing memories of her and it makes me cry thinking of her holding Isla and calling her her doll baby. She will be missed tremendously.
Even though we were filled with much sadness we tried to make the best of our vacation. Here are some photos from our trip…
Isla did really well on the flights
Just listening to some tunes
on the short walk from our condo to the beach this is early our first morning
just missed the sunrise, but it was so peaceful
the view of the mountains from our villa’s balcony
Isla’s first time to the beach and she LOVED it. Seriously went nuts for the sand and water.

I still can’t handle her rolls, I never want them to go away!
Currently craving this shaved ice!

Local fruit, I don’t remember what it was called but inside the shell

Reflecting on how precious life is, missing Nana.
Kevin & Isla spent a good amount of time in our sun tent
One of the coolest things we saw, sea turtles coming into the bay for the night, literally a foot away from us!
We did a airplane tour of the island, it was AWESOME. If you ever go to Kauai do this! We used Wings Over Kaui, definitely recommend!
Kevin was very excited to be co-pilot
A few of the amazing views we had
My sister Alison who writes The Next Big Adventure, and my adorable niece Mara
We went to a Luau! Top similar here, denim leggings here (LOVE, so comfy), sunnies here, purse here, sandals are from Italy
Awesome view on a hike
Saltwater lagoon at the Hyatt. We didn’t stay here but it was a couple minute walk from our condo. This place is sooo beautiful and nice, would love to come back and stay here.
Just got back from snorkeling with a giant sea turtle! Swimsuit top similar here, bottoms similar here.
Isla loved being free of clothes
Yummy drink served in a pineapple! Sunnies here

Awesome zip lining experience we did our last day. The last one was half a mile long!!
Alison went upside down, I was not that brave!
Secret beach we hiked through some private property to get to. Totally worth it!
Overall we had such a wonderful time. I swear sunshine, greenery, and beaches are good for the soul in the dead of winter. I hope you all have a chance to escape somewhere a bit warmer sometime soon! Traveling makes me want to travel more and experience more. I’m already thinking of places we should go next! I have always wanted to go to Greece! Where is your dream vacation? Have you been to Kauai what did you think?
Hope you’re having a great day!
