It feels like fall…

I am obsessed with this scarf!!! I’m sad I didn’t get any photos of the back because it is herringbone on the other side! Gah it’s just so cute. I wrapped it like a cowl neck but it can be worn so many other ways. This is my favorite faux leather jacket of all time. It feels like real leather and the structured shoulders are so chic. I just got these jeans the other day, they are under $25! I have one or two pairs of designer denim but honestly don’t wear them all that much. My go to for jeans is always H&M. They’re inexpensive and fit me well, I think the quality is amazing for the price too. The ray bans were a Christmas gift from my mom. I had a cheapie pair of aviators that were honestly super uncomfortable so I’m excited to finally have a nice pair! I live for easy tees like this one as well. So comfortable and can worn with anything!

Happy NYE!!! We are traveling to Hawaii today! I am soo excited because I have never been and we are due for a vacation. I will be there for the next 2 weeks so posting will be light. To follow along with our adventures be sure to follow me on Instagram! I hope you all have a fun and safe NYE and God brings you many blessings in the New Year! Cheers to 2015!!

A little bit of Christmas…

So I failed to take a lot of photos on Christmas with my good camera. I did get a few though and some on my iphone. The Sunday before Christmas Isla and her cousin Teddy met Santa! It was so cute. I thought she would be terrified but she did pretty well!

I also hosted a Christmas brunch for some of my old co-workers, which was a lot of fun. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of the food, too many mimosas maybe.

Each guest’s place setting had a mug and homemade hot cocoa mix as my little Christmas gift to them. The mugs are here, homemade hot cocoa mix recipe here. I made baked french toast and an egg strata, the baked french toast is always so good I’ve made it many times before. Find that recipe here.

I’m sad we didn’t get photos of Isla and her cousin Teddy. He had the flu, poor thing felt awful. We were nervous Isla might catch it right before we leave for Hawaii, so they didn’t really get to interact on Christmas day 😦

Overall we had a wonderful Christmas. I hope your Christmas was blessed and filled with love and family!

My angel

Since it’s Christmas time, I feel especially grateful for my happy and healthy family. Isla has been by far the biggest blessing in my life this year. I call her my angel so often because she is just that. Not only is she a really good baby, but I just ask Kevin all the time how did we get so lucky to get this sweet little angel and call her ours. It is so true what they say, that when you become a parent you love this little person with your whole heart, and many times you feel as if it could explode with happiness. There truly is no other way to describe it. If you are a mom you know what I’m talking about. That is exactly how Isla makes me feel. I am so blessed to be able to stay home with her and can’t believe how quickly she is growing. I hope everyone gets to experience the love of a parent for their child someday. Here are some monthly photos of Isla thus far!

I want to cry looking back at these photos. Happy and sad tears, my baby is growing and learning so many new things each day. I know she won’t be a baby forever so I’m savoring these precious moments. Isla brings so much love and happiness to my life I am so incredibly grateful for her! 2014 has been such a wonderful year and I can only hope God blesses us just as much in 2015!

Plaid casual

jeans | tee | vest (30% off!)| aviators | booties | diaper bag | earrings |  initial disc necklace (similar) | lariat necklace (similar)

This is a normal running around any day of the week outfit for me. It’s comfy and casual and since it hasn’t been drastically cold during the day I can get away with wearing this vest without a coat. It is so warm and cute! I love the hood with the fur and right now it’s 30% off! Besides burgundy and black I really love emerald green in the winter. Just reminds me of evergreen trees and Christmas. I also love these booties. I have been wearing them all the time since I got them at the beginning of fall. Super comfortable but still look more put together than just throwing on uggs (which I still do from time to time). The tee is thin and stretchy, a very comfy layering piece. I have it in 4 colors, haha. This diaper bag holds my life in it. Seriously it’s so roomy, but sometimes things get lost it’s so big! I asked for one with backpack straps for Christmas for our upcoming trip to Hawaii. Gah I simply can’t wait! I hope everyone is having a great start to your week. Only 2 workdays until Christmas, yipeee! Have a great day!

P.S. Isla liked Santa! Well she was kinda indifferent about him, haha. I will share some of those pics tomorrow! If you follow me on Instagram then you got a sneak peek!

Feeling festive

IMG_3924leggings -sold out (similar) | black wrap top | heels ($30!!) | clutch -old (similar) | watch | chevron cuff | bangle | necklace (similar)

Does it get any more festive than gold sequin leggings? These have been ALL over pinterest recently and are perfect for the holidays. I think I’m going to wear mine on Christmas eve but they definitely work as a warm alternative to a dress for NYE as well. These heels are on sale for $30! Thirty dollars for suede pumps! Unheard of. I really like the quality of Aldo shoes and have a lot of them. This top is actually a nursing top, but you definitely do not need to be nursing to wear it. I plan on keeping it in rotation even after I’m done breastfeeding. It’s flattering and can be wrapped as tightly or loosely as you want. I thought the pop of pink in the clutch was a fun twist on bringing a bright color into the winter months.

I’m so sad there is still no snow on the ground! Wahhh the bare trees need some lovin! It also just doesn’t feel like Christmas to me without being snuggled up in jammies looking at the snow outside on Christmas morning. Hopefully things will turn around by next week!

My new favorite saying is Fri-yay. So fun because it’s so true everyone is excited about Fridays! So Happy Friyay! What are you guys doing this weekend? Tonight we are going to the Morton Arboretum Illumination which is where they do a crazy light display on hundreds of trees you walk around and see. It’s really cool. Last year I froze my butt off. Because I was pregnant literally all my body heat went to my belly, so my fingers and toes were NUMB. I’m excited to see Isla’s reaction to it! I will be wearing her for extra warmth. Sunday she meets Santa for the first time! I hope she doesn’t cry. She’s at the age where she is starting to be a little weary of strangers. Especially men. Especially men with beards. This should be interesting…

Have a wonderful weekend! Thank you for reading!

When in doubt wear all black…

IMG_3831tunic (similar) | leggings | boots | bag | watch |necklace (similar)

Wearing all black is an easy and chic look. This one happens to be super comfortable because I’m wearing the most amazing leggings. I have talked about them before but I swear they’re the best. They have a wider waistband to really suck you in and make you look smooth in all the right places and don’t slip down. A+ in my book. And ok it’s official, I’m obsessed with these boots. The heel really isn’t as high as I originally thought and it’s a chunkier heel which makes them more wearable. I also really like the almond shaped toe, a little bit dressy but not as dressy as a pointy toe. I have been wearing them non stop since I got them. Still a really great deal for an OTK boot AND they’re actually really comfortable. Love! The bag is a staple piece I wear all the time when I don’t use my diaper bag. Everyone needs a good black crossbody bag and this one comes in some other fun colors as well if you already have black.

Can you guys believe Christmas is in a week?! Ahh did you get all your shopping done or are you a last minute snag the very last sale kinda person? I have one more person to buy for then I’m done. I have started to organize all the gifts in our basement but just need to get on wrapping them! I’m hosting a Christmas brunch for some of my old co-workers on Monday so I’ll have some tasty recipes for you next week!

Happy almost Friday! 🙂
